Turning challenges into opportunities

Empower yourself so you can empower your family.

A bit about me, Marc.

I studied a BA, BA Honours, and MA at Rhodes University, followed by a Masters of Education in Developmental Psychology in Education at Wits University. I taught at Rhodes University; at 11 schools across Northampton, New Zealand, Durban, Johannesburg, Grahamstown and Cape Town; and spent 18 years as school head of two co-ed schools.

In 2014, I published a book on educational themes tailored for parents, my first official foray into parent coaching. I’ve experienced first-hand the trials and triumphs of parenting my own teens, whilst gaining an “outsider's perspective” from the 1000s of families I’ve met through my academic career.

I am also a qualified and accredited mediator with the Mediation Society of South Africa, with formal training in family mediation and court ready parenting plans. For a family navigating separation or ongoing conflict, mediation can provide a structured and neutral process.

I offer a calm approach that complements the legal process and works collaboratively with schools and other professionals.

All mediation and support services are conducted in accordance with recognised South African standards and ethical guidelines. Through decades of experience, qualified advice and structured mediation, 'Parenting You' can help you to understand and overcome the extraordinary pressures that you may be facing.

"When parents feel supported and understood, children are better able to thrive. Let me help you to find peace in the chaos."

- Vanessa ( Mother of 2 )

"Marc brought an incredible sense of calm to what felt like an entirely overwhelming time for our family. What stood out most wasn't just his fairness, but his profound understanding of what our children needed most. He has this unique ability to gently pull you out of the immediate dispute and refocus the conversation on the long-term well-being of the kids. His deep experience working with young people is obvious—he made sure their futures were the priority in every decision we made."

- Sipho

"Marc understands the importance of nurturing teenagers' emotional and mental well-being. Drawing from his extensive expertise in education and adopting a holistic perspective, he has the ability to guide parents in recognising their children's diverse needs and fostering a positive sense of self."

- Debbie ( Mother of 3 )

"I was dreading the mediation process, but Marc’s objective and structured approach changed everything. He is so skilled at seeing the bigger picture. When emotions ran high, he possessed the empathy to validate our feelings, while firmly keeping us aware of the long-term consequences our choices would have on our family dynamic down the line. He didn't just help us settle a dispute; he helped us build a practical, sustainable framework for co-parenting."

- Sarah

"Marc’s perspectives have opened my eyes to the potential of how parenting can be and how I can have a more positive relationship with my children. His unique outlook broadens one's more insular and limited experience. I cannot recommend his insights more highly."
